SLF Awards Ceremony Program

Sri Lankan Community in Los Angeles is organizing its awards ceremony program in the month of November. The SLF award show will take place at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles. Since 2003, the Sri Lanka Foundation has been working for the welfare and promotion of  Sri Lankan expatriates in the US. Every year awards in different categories are distributed to the most successful and excellent people in their field. SLF’s goal is to distinguish expatriates for their excellence in specific fields such as Entrepreneurs, Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers Scientists and more.

The Sri Lanka Foundation is aimed to advance its Sri Lankan Community in LA via different activities and events. This non- profit organization also hosts a number of shows and events to showcase the talents and culture from Sri Lanka. These events include Sri Lanka Day, The annual Miss Sri Lanka America beauty pageant, Fashion Show and the Young Expatriate Sri Lankans (YES!) World Youth Conference among others. In addition, Sri Lanka Foundation also publishes “Expatriate Sri Lankan Good News” to provide Daily News Sri Lanka for expatriates in the United States. Apart from that, Slf also has a News section on its official website that presents daily updates of Sri Lanka.

If you want to participate in the Sri Lanka award ceremony and win the prize, you need to qualify for the prestigious categories. You have to send the completed application form, copies of proof of achievements and copies of any other credentials. The Judging panel will check the truth of the candidate’s credentials and select the winners accordingly. SLF award show at Wilshire Grand Hotel welcomes you, so be there!

SLF Promoting Sri Lankan Culture in America

Sri Lanka Foundation, a nonprofit organization is advancing Sri Lankan culture in America. The organization is supporting Sri Lankan community in Los Angeles by hosting various shows and events, guiding people about Sri Lanka and promoting businesses from Sri Lanka in California. It publishes ‘Expatriate Sri Lankan Good News’ that showcases social and cultural events of emigrants from the Sri Lankan community. This magazine reaches more than 10 thousand Sri Lankan houses regularly.

The “Sri Lanka Day Expo” is a yearly event held for just one day. It showcases several outstanding performances by Sri Lankan dancers and musicians. The expo is attended by a number of Sri Lankans and Americans from across the globe to feel the culture of Sri Lanka. At this event, the major attraction among visitors is called “Perahera”.

Srilankan Non Profit Organization in California also organizes Sri Lanka Foundation Awards in order to honor the deserving and successful people from Sri Lanka. It inspires Sri Lankan American cultural community. SLF also hosts YES or The Young Expatriate Sri Lankans (YES!) World Youth Conference that provides a chance for the young individuals to network, find out more about Sri Lankan culture and support Sri Lanka.

In addition, Sri Lanka Foundation also organizes fashion show and annual Miss Sri Lanka America beauty pageant to showcase their ethnic exquisiteness to the American mainstream.

SLF Performing Art Center Announces New Educational Programs

Sri Lanka Foundation, Pasadena has announced new educational programs of Performing art Center. People who are interested in folk dances and traditional drum playing can get registered now to attend classes on weekends. The dance classes by SLF Pasadena Cultural Dance Academy are providing an exclusive chance for Sri Lankan people in America and other places to learn specific dance form from their own country.

Not just traditional dancing but you can also learn to speak the mother tongue of Sri Lanka. The language class on the weekend will be providing guidance on learning Sinhalese language. Two more educational programs from Sri Lanka Foundation’s Performing Art Center include Traditional drumming and stage drama.

The schedule of these educational classes is listed below:

.  Beginner child dance class on every Saturday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
Beginner drumming class on every Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
.  Beginner Dance class on every Sunday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Schedule and timing of Sinhalese language classes and stage drama classes will be announced by Sri Lanka Foundation very soon. Three major levels, including beginner, intermediate and advanced courses are available in Performing Art Center in Sri Lanka Foundation. These special courses or educational programs are instructed by talented artists and teachers who have years of experience in Dance and drumming. They are extremely professional and provide their best for each student. SLF’s Performing Art Center has become the most popular Traditional Dance Center in Pasadena.
